For the 50th year in a row downtown Georgetown will play host to one of the biggest and best Christmas parades of the holiday season.

Scheduled for Thursday, December 6, in the Sussex County Seat, the 50th annual Georgetown Christmas parade is being organized by the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Georgetown, and will begin at 7 p.m.

“Planning has already begun,” says Kevin Thompson, Director of Operations for the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. “This year is the parade’s “golden” anniversary and we want to make it our biggest and best yet! We’re excited to see all the floats, decorations, and costumes that our participants will create to celebrate this special milestone.”

The theme for this year’s parade is a “A Solid Gold Christmas: 50 Years of Georgetown Christmas Parades” and will again culminate in the arrival of Santa Claus. As usual, scores of floats, marching bands, classic cars, fire engines and much more will participate in the annual event.
